The seaside town of Skegness, and the nearby coastal villages of Ingoldmells and Chapel St. Leonards, make up one the best known and loved holiday resorts in the United Kingdom and can boast of award-winning beaches some ten miles in length.

Inland you will find the traditional market towns of Horncastle, Louth and Spilsby along with the Lincolnshire Wolds – proving once and for all that Lincolnshire certainly isn’t flat! Lincolnshire is ideal country for walking and cycling.

There really is something for everyone in Skegness, from state-of-the-art white-knuckle rollercoaster rides to the tranquillity of nature reserves, with many other attractions in between.

Butlins Skegness

Probably the best-known attraction is the world’s first Butlins which is located a short bus ride away.

With many attractions including the Skyline Pavillion, Toyland, Sub-Tropical Waterworld, tenpin bowling and an entertainment centre with live shows it is ideal for a day trip for all the family.

Fantasy Island Ingoldmells

A short bus ride away in Ingoldmells you will find Fantasy Island, Britain’s first themed indoor family resort and amusements park. Fantasy Island is home to exhilarating rides and roller coasters that will test even the bravest thrill-seekers’ nerves, while those looking for something more family-friendly will have plenty to choose from.

For the slightly less adventurous there are a number of other, more sedate rides and attractions at Fantasy Island, as well as a variety of food halls, restaurant, and shopping. Fantasy Island is also home to the famous Eastgate Market which is open seven days a week during high season for some fantastic bargains.

Those seeking thrills are not limited to this, but there is also the Bottons Pleasure Beach, providing a whole host of rides and attractions to suit all tastes and the recently-updated Skegness Pier.

The Embassy Theatre, based a short walk away on the seafront, provides excellent entertainment for everybody, with some of the top names of comedy and music appearing throughout the year, as well as the traditional Christmas panto.

Club Tropicana is based in nearby Chapel St. Leonards and provides a whole host of entertainment and live acts.

Skegness Aquarium

Since 2015 Skegness has been home to its’ own award-winning aquarium where you can meet the sharks, rays and other sea life creatures.

Whether you choose to visit for a fun day out or want the full-on dive experience, it makes a fantastic day out.

Skegness is also excellent for shopping, with many shops for the bargain hunter, as well as the Hildreds shopping centre and the high street.

There are plenty of other things to do such as catching up with the latest from Hollywood at the Tower Cinema. Skegness is home to some of the best amusement arcades in the country, so there are always plenty of slot machines and penny pushers to go around! Ideal fun for young and old.

Lincolnshire is ideal walking and cycling country

Skegness is ideal for both strong walkers and those who are not as mobile. A short distance away from Skegness is the Lincolnshire Wolds, an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB), which provide ideal walking and cycling country and there are a number of routes – guides for which are available from any tourist office. Skegness itself is primarily built on mostly flat land and this makes it ideal for those with limited mobility, and many attractions cater for the disabled.

Gibraltar Point is a nature reserve set on a stretch of unspoilt coastline running southwards from the edge of Skegness to the mouth of the Wash. Known for its impressive views and sheer scale and diversity of wildlife, Gibraltar Point is worth visiting in different seasons to fully appreciate its landscape.

For those with an eye on history you will find Gunby Hall an ideal place to visit during your stay. Gunby Hall is a homely country house dated 1700 set in Victorian walled gardens at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds and run for the benefit of the nation by the National Trust.

Our beaches are award-winning

Skegness has a beautiful sandy beach and is home to the award-winning Skegness donkeys from the same company who have been providing donkey rides on the beach for generations. All the attractions you’d associate with a beach resort, such as ice-cream sales, doughnuts, burgers and much more can be found a short walk from the beach and in the surrounding area so there are snack foods and full meals available to suit all tastes.

A short bus ride up the coast leads to Chapel St. Leonards, which has a vast sandy beach and promenade path which is ideal for walking. Chapel St. Leonards is a charming village that contains all the charm of a small seaside village whilst still providing entertainment for all. Chapel St. Leonards is also ideal for bargain shopping with a number of stores offering goods at low prices. Well worth the visit.

For the petrolhead…

For the motorsport fan there is the Skegness Stock Car Stadium in nearby Orby. Skegness Stadium is the home of the ‘Speedweekend’ and features all different types of oval racing from the low-cost banger racing to powerful F1 stockcars. Throughout the summer they host summer specials where you can see top action from stunt teams, skydiving displays and monster trucks among others.

In addition, the legendary Cadwell Park motor racing circuit is within easy driving distance and hosts events most weekends throughout the year including top-level motor racing events.
